Equitable and Inclusive Higher Education: Strategies for Practice Series - Session #1: Self Awareness

In this five-part, highly interactive workshop series, participants will learn about and engage in activities to help them become more equitable and inclusive professionals in higher education settings. The workshop series will begin with a session focused on raising participants’ awareness of their own cultural values and assumptions that guide their work in higher education. The second session builds on this awareness as participants evaluate a variety of inclusive pedagogical approaches to determine the approach that will work best in their context. The third session examines how educators can create an inclusive curriculum that provides all students with opportunities to achieve the learning outcomes for their program of study. The fourth session explores how to create inclusive assessments that allow all students to demonstrate their mastery of the learning outcomes. The final session returns to self-examination. In this session, participants will be invited to learn about techniques to build resiliency to continue their journey to becoming a more equitable and inclusive higher education practitioner.

All sessions will be held via Zoom from 3:00-4:30 on the following dates:

Session #1: Self Awareness - Wednesday, January 26, 2022
Session #2: Inclusive Pedagogy - Wednesday, February 2, 2022
Session #3: Inclusive Curriculum - Wednesday, February 23, 2022
Session #4: Inclusive Assessment - Wednesday, March 30, 2022
Session #5: Resilience for DEI Work - Wednesday, April 13, 2022

Attendees earn 1.5 CEU's per session.


·       GC3/SOCHE Members: $25/session or $100 for the series (all 5 sessions).

·       Non GC3/SOCHE Members: $50/session or $200 for the series (all 5 sessions).
