THOMAS MORE COLLEGE, ST. ELIZABETH HEALTHCARE ANNOUNCE $1M INVESTMENT TO SUPPORT NEW HEALTH SCIENCES FACILITY

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Thomas More College has received a $1 million gift from St. Elizabeth Healthcare to support and expand the college’s nursing and athletic training programs and to create a new Health Sciences facility, Thomas More College President David A. Armstrong and St. Elizabeth Healthcare CEO Garren Colvin announced today.

Thomas More College is directing a portion of the gift towards the renovation and construction of classroom and clinical simulation areas that will provide the college’s nursing and athletic training students with an active learning experience and training across the continuum of care. The facility (formerly Tri-State Gastroenterology) on Barnwood Drive in Crestview Hills will be named The St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center for Health Sciences. The remaining portion of the gift to the college will be used for programmatic enhancements, including equipment and other curricular supports.

“Today we celebrate our wonderful partnership with St. Elizabeth Healthcare and our shared commitment to enhancing healthcare in this area,” Armstrong said. “This generous investment will benefit our students, faculty, and the community for years to come.”

“The ongoing education and training of our future workforce as well as our current staff is of utmost importance to us,” Colvin said. “From our partnership with the Mayo Clinic to this investment aimed at enhancing and expanding the health sciences programs at Thomas More College, we are dedicated to providing best-in-class healthcare to our region.”

Thomas More College offers both a traditional four-year nursing program and an accelerated RN to BSN program. The employment rate for TMC nursing graduates has been 100 percent for the last five years, and for the last two years TMC nursing graduates have achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX testing for 2015 and 2016. Launched in 2015, the Athletic Training program at Thomas More College offers the only Master’s degree program in the area.

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is the largest employer of Thomas More College alumni.

The St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center for Health Sciences is expected to open in late 2017.
